Online Sichuan battles: ranked matchmaking and win rules
By Playship Studios Updated
An official play guide from the developer of Play Sichuan.
Battle Mode in Play Sichuan lets you play online 1v1 Sichuan battles on the same board. Ranked battle finds an opponent automatically and puts RP (ranking points) and coins on the line.
Battles require an internet connection, and the connection rule is the same as solo play: join two identical tiles with a line that turns at most twice.
Start matchmaking from Ranked battle
Open Battle Mode from the home screen and select Start match on the Ranked battle card. Older versions label the same card Random match. When an opponent is found, the match begins after a three-second countdown.
- Select Battle Mode on the home screen.
- Select Start match on the Ranked battle or Random match card.
- When an opponent is found, the match starts on the same board after a countdown.

Same board, three minutes: how winners are decided
Both players start on the same board at the same time, and each match has a three-minute limit. When one player clears the board, the other gets 10 seconds to finish. The clock keeps running if you pause during a battle.
A player who clears the board beats one who does not. If both or neither clear it, the higher score wins; if scores are tied, the faster finish wins. If everything is equal, the match is a draw.
Clearing first does not settle the match if your opponent also clears within the finishing window — then the score decides. Keeping quick combos going raises your score.
RP, coin rewards, and the battle leaderboard
Ranked battle results raise or lower your RP. Everyone starts at 1000 RP; a win adds at least one point and a loss removes at least one point, with the change depending on the RP gap between you and your opponent.
You earn 6 coins for a win, 3 for a draw, and 1 for a loss. Check cumulative RP rankings on the Battle tab of the leaderboard.

How is it different from Friend Battle and lobbies?
Ranked battle finds an opponent automatically, and the result changes your RP and coins. To play someone you know, use a friend invite room or a lobby instead. Friend Battle and lobby matches do not change RP or coins.
Lobbies support 2 to 4 players and start automatically when everyone is ready. See the friend battle guide for creating rooms and sharing invite links.
